I never knew that cities could attach people. I am talking about the genuine aspect. I am talking about the love you have for the place not the job/opportunity craze. Very strong emotions get involved in a city and to the extent that when you leave you feel like you are leaving your place, your identity, your upbringing, your secrets, your fights and your tears. She has witnessed your growth, your fall, your each and every step. She has been the major concern in every decision you take. Most of the times you take up a job which is near to her, so that you can fly and visit her anytime. She just knows everything! Yes knowingly or unknowing we connect to the place. वाटतं आता कुठेतरी थांबावं, बंधनांचे पाश तोडून दोन सेकंद तरी जगावं. अथांग अश्या समुद्रात स्वतःला झोकून द्यावं, कुणी म्हणेल पागल का तं त्याला पण त्या आनंदात अलगत खेचावं. दूर अश्या क्षितीजाला थेट बिलगाव, त्या यशाच्या आनंदात एकदम धूत व्हावं. कोणास तरी आपल्या हक्काचं बनवावं, हळूच प्रेमाच्या पदरात चिंब चिंब भिजावं. लहरी अश्या मनाचा ताबा एकदा तरी सुटावा, ज्याने आयुष्यात सुंदर असा एखाद अनुभव तरी असावा. वेळ आली तर साऱ्या जगास ओरडून सांगाव  नि रडावं वाटल्यास एका मित्राच्या खांद्यावर भोकाड उघडावं. किर्र अश्या अंधारात जंगलात एकट भटकावं, कशाची हि परवा न करता तसेच पुढे चालत रहावं. दोस्ताच्या पार्टीत रात्रभर नाचावं, थकलेल्या जीवाला मग दिवसभर झोपू द्यावं. पोकेट मधला शेवटचा पैसा संपेपर्यंत खर्च करावा, रिकामा झाल्यास पायीच घरी परतावं. आपल्या आवडत्या कामात मनापासून वेडे व्हावं, त्यामुळे जर जाईल जगाचे भान तरी ते बेस असावं. कोणी जर जात असेल डोक्यात फार, तं त्याला ति...

“मॅडम हे डी टी देशमुखचं गणिताचं पुस्तक. अगदी अप्रतीम. युनिवर्सिटीचा पेपर यातूनच येतो. हेच घ्या!” नमस्कार! मी छोटू! तसं खरं नाव शेखर, पण सगळेच मला छोटू म्हणूनच ओळखतात! एका पुस्तकांच्या दुकानात काम करतो. मी एका मोठ्या शहाराच्या एका छोट्याशा वस्तीत राहतो. गावाकडे काम मिळत नसल्याने माझे वडील रोजगारासाठी इथे आले. त्यांच्यापाठोपाठ आम्ही सगळेच आलो. माझे आर्इ वडील मिळेल ते काम करतात आणि माझे व माझ्या लहान भावाचे हट्ट पुर्ण करतात. मी सगळयांसारखाच अत्यंत सामान्य. सगळया मुलांसारख्या छोट्या अपेक्षा असलेला. जोपर्यंत शक्य होतं तोपर्यंत मला आर्इ­वडिलांनी शिकवलं. शाळेत जाणं, अभ्यास करणं मला आवडत असलं तरी नार्इलाजास्तव मला शिक्षण सोडावं लागलं. पैसा कमवायला मला मग माझ्या छोट्याश्या जगातून भव्य अश्या जगात पडावं लागलं. पुस्तकांची आवड असल्याने मी एका जुनी पुस्तकं  विकणाऱ्याकडे  कामाला लागलो. मग फावल्या वेळात मी दुकानातलीच पुस्तकं वाचायला लागलो. आज नेहमीप्रमाणे दुकानात बसलो असता माझ्या नजरेस एक द कार्इट रनर नावाचं पुस्तक पडलं. पुस्तकाचं ना...

आत्ता सुचतय अगदी सहजच, विनाकारण अगदी अचानकच. कशावर लिहितेय नाही सांगत, वाचल्यावर कळेल लगेचच. सुखानंतर दु:ख किंवा दु:खानंतर सुख नसतं कधी सहजच, प्रत्येक परिस्तितीला समोर जाण्यास तयार करतं ते नकळतच. यश अपयश असतात एकाच नाण्याच्या दोन बाजू, या नाण्याला सांभाळून ठेवणं अवघडच. दिवस उजाडतो नि मावळतो, आपल्याला हुशार करण्यासच. प्रेम नि मैत्री दोन्ही सारखेच कारण आपण हे करतो आपल्या माणसावरच. जरा विचार केलास तर हेही पटेल तुला आपण नाही जन्मलो उगाचच.
