I remember reciting this prayer before my meals ever since I can understand. In simple terms it means, moderate intake of food, that is, neither too much nor too less, is healthy as it allows proper digestion.

I hate it when people leave food on their plates. A quick visit to any wedding/ function, you are amazed by the quantity of the left overs. I have never understood this concept. Technically, arranging the buffet means - eat what you like. If you are in a hurry, there is no need to wait for the Pangat where all traditional foodstuffs (read too many items) are served and you are supposed to finish the plate. I mean, you have arranged a buffet, when people are supposed to eat what they like, but then, the "Let's try this, looks yum!" "Oh no! It doesn't seem like it. Throw!" thinking spoils its sole purpose.

Keep aside the weddings, food wastage is observed in our daily lives too! Yes, you remember that left over in the tiffin or on that last piece of the ordered sub you left?

How can anyone just not finish what is served. Can we not politely mention that we are full and will have a small serving? I am quite sure, all sensible ones can understand how much they are hungry, then still why there is so much wastage? At least, one ought to finish the servings for the cook! He has put in so many efforts in preparing that dish. It was just a matter of few miscalculations! Well, yes, if the food is too bad, you really don't have an option, but then, this situation is rarely observed.

Is there a way out? These guys have really come up with an interesting idea! Can we follow the same suit? Are we considerate enough to make a little contribution like this?
