Humbled!

Image
A place to feel intimidated, to let you know that you are just a tiny spec, all engrossed in our own worldly wars. But, the truth is we deny to look around, to understand that there can be so many other things that are running unanimously to make our universe so warm and cozy. Just some self introspection and the reality dawns upon - we are minuscules all trying to fit in!

Sand Timer!

I have always found sand timers fascinating! As a kid, I couldn't see that sand timer sitting there idle all day long flowing at it's own pace. It was as if he never bothered or made any attempts to go faster. He was at content with it's own pace. And there was I, desperately wanting it to obey my command to have a quicker flow. I must have tried tapping, flicking or shaking the timer thousands of times, failing in every other attempt, and then eventually gave up upon him to make it flow faster.  Little did I understand then that the methods I was implementing were creating a gap between the sand and the neck of the hourglass, eventually reducing the amount of sand that could get through the opening. Now, I know that for an efficient flow, if I could have vibrated the timer at just right amplitude I could have been successful! This would separate the sand from the side walls without creating a large upward force on the sand. Just like the timekeeper, at time...

Just Enough Inspiration!

Just when I found myself caught in the numerous opened tabs on my laptop, waiting for the coffee to kick in, I stumbled upon these lines in an article: Part one: Neglect everything else. Part two: Get disciplined. Learn to rush to your laptop and open it up. Open the file without asking yourself if you’re in the mood, without thinking about anything else. Just open the file: and then you’re safe. Once the words are on the screen, that becomes your distraction. Of course, it’s not distraction—it’s work, and it’s wonderful when it goes well. I’m sure other, more disciplined people can do it without needing to rush, but I have to. The moment you think okay, it’s work time, and face down the words, you rush past all the other things asking for your attention. Part three: Keep the Apple homepage, because it’s rather boring. If your homepage is the website of your favorite newspaper, you’ve had it. [Read it here:  http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/ar...

सुमनांजली !

Image
It's not every other day when I am more proud than happy; one of it is today no doubt! Today we have published my Grandmother's poems! "Aaji" as we fondly call her, really defines a lady. Be it the worldliness, generosity, patience, strength, finesse or humbleness, she has it all. At adversity or at any achievement she has held her head on her shoulders and is one of those reliable people to whom we can always turn to. We have seen her journey through her numerous endless stories. Yes, we have seen her broad shoulders turning into tiny skeleton, the strong skin hold to the wrinkles; she is the truest example of aging with grace. When she is not working in the garden or cooking or taking care of the household chores, she spends her time with us - her grandchildren. Little we know or cared that she has her own life. We have never seen her sitting idle, usually engrossed in the daily routine, yet, she always knows everything. Be it the current events, sports, m...

Conversations!

Image
#Hangouts#Laughters#Life Conversations! They are so much fun. They make you feel alive and spirited. Those small talks, those caring words make you feel special, make you feel protected. In a single word, they are life! And the best part of them is that they never keep you lonely. Some of the best conversations make you drift into different ideas, various topics and altogether varied emotions; all this without the feeling of incomplete talks. There is a certain certainty in the switch of the subjects and it feels just so normal and so right. We feel like the talks are still incomplete, but then they are not. Unknowingly, they complete their purpose. Figuratively, they are all open ended talks, with not a definite answer or conclusion, just like some of those Agatha Christine's short stories! After an interesting talk, it all ends in a high point, a peaceful silence, from where we can pick up anytime for the next conversation, because they are fun, right?

I turned one!

Image
(Click by a friend) Birthdays are fun! And when it is turning one, can it be more special? I am so overjoyed by seeing how this curious, naive kid came out of his closet. His small crawls, gradual walks found a steady pace. The extreme infinities and the endless possibilities overwhelmed him, still he found his space. His immature words found their rhythm and obediently turned into phrases. Yes thoughts from the mind started the long talks. Sometimes they fought, so much so that they avoided all the contact, but, soon enough caught up over a cup of coffee. The long interesting gossips made for the lost time. The times of joy, those sad moments or those excitements, my words have always stood for me. They made sure I am never left alone. Indeed, I need them more than I could think of. I need them to shake me out of my imaginary world and get in terms with the reality. I need them not just because they are my weakness, but because, they are my greatest strengths. They ma...

Prisoners...we are!

Image
Prisoners. That's right. It is what we are. Prisoners of thought. Prisoners of action. Prisoners of words. Prisoners of society. Prisoners of faith. Of all the religions, pressures and the games. There are so many threads which bind us. Something or the other, pulls us back. Whenever we decide to go beyond our comfort zone, that little panic is always there to see that we go right back. Some words, some situations or some memories make sure we don't move on. There is this unknown fear which always keeps us engulfed, keeps our mind occupied, so much so that, we start getting confused. The reality seems so unreal, so unsure and so uncertain that we are too much overwhelmed to respond or to interact. We get scared of the unknown. Try to figure out the solutions, all are in vain. Too much vulnerable, indeed. We stop living. Literally. Forgive. Forget. Move ahead. That's all is required.

New Year!

Image
(From a shared post on Facebook) And here it is, a fresh new year! All eager to note the events on the timeline. It's a trigger to start something new, something better, something worthwhile. A whole new set of endless possibilities, whole new chapters, await. I know, we all have had an epic year. Some of it was tragic, some of it worth forgetting while some part was sheer fun. Remember? Wise. Crazy. Happy. Sad. Excited. Enthusiastic. Stupid. Overwhelmed. Frustrated. Awestruck. Whatever! We all have been like that at some point, right? There were times when we were real helpless, but, we found out our way back. We managed to pull up our chin and smile broad. And knowingly or unknowingly we have done something good, for others and also for ourselves. So, pat your back! New friends joined hands while some left. Some were reunited while some were always there. Meanwhile, we contemplated! A little grown up, aren't we? So, here's wishing the new year to be mor...

Odd Connect!

Image
It is always so good to meet people who have the same interests as you have. It feels so awesome to finally talk about the common topics. It is so easy to be friends with them, you feel as if you are knowing each other since ages, even if you talk less. It is one of those instant connect moments when your wavelengths match and then what, it is a complete fun-ride! It is like, you don't have to spend half of the time explaining all the details, the why's and how's. Just a mere mention, word, expression, any weird clue, is enough, more than enough, to complete the story. It is the assurance of the fact that your friend will understand. It is that happiness of security one has when you express yourself, you know you will not be taken otherwise. It is one of those liberating experiences mixed with introspection, change in perspective and exhilaration! If you have such friend(s) - treasure him/her(them), you need them!

Gift Yourself!

Image
Aha! Again a long gap in the posts! I am really clueless why this happens, I guess it is okay to keep aside the writing cap once in a while. No, it is not an excuse, still. I always wonder how it is possible for others to maintain a daily blog post. Every other blog I see, or rather I follow, has regular updates. They always suggest to sit down and write all the thoughts, and say you will get into the flow. When I try to follow that, words always fail me. How can these authors write such beautiful posts? The whole write up seems magical and all the words and phrases are just apt or are placed as if they were destined to be there. Undoubtedly, I envy them. I envy that they can figure out a beautiful picture of the whole scene in front of us, by mere words. I envy that they manage to do that every other time. I envy that they keep us engulfed in the story so much so that we start to relate to them, engage into the laughs or sorrows and unknowingly get transported to that place. S...

New Leaf!

Image
The whole summer was indeed a different experience for me, new people, new experiences, new views and lots of fun! So I lived with a different roommate for the summers and now I am friends with some interesting people. It was an adventure ride, a learning experience, overcame some of the prejudices, beliefs and no doubt some fears too! And yeah, somewhere in between, I found myself back! So many times, you feel lost in the huge crowd and just forget to live life, try to behave what you really are not, basically, stop being true to yourself. All the while, go on living the life of which you never thought of. I remember myself telling Manjiri so many times that, this is just not me! This is someone different. I have been cloned or something! Now I get it, it was what they fondly call as “Cultural Shock”! Really, a big word, with a magnificent meaning! I am glad that, it is over! And how! Firstly I met so many new people! More than half of them I know only by their names; ...

एक अनोखी मुलाखत!

Image
This might be one of my oldest write up. First ever interview taken. Of one of the employees of the Tarun Bharat newspaper. Fresh after giving the standard 10 boards, when had loads and loads of time, had attended this camp in the summer of 2006. I remember this camp! It was a great fun. I learnt not to say 'a' while public speaking! Everyone used to count when any one of us made that mistake. I remember, we had to present a play too! Well, have no idea which role I played and what the play was, but remember that, it was seriously a nice experience! We got to see the newspaper printing process, all those huge printing machines and met some exciting people! This one indeed need a place on the blog!

Numbers!

Image
A joke has been making quite a lot of rounds on Quora - What is the best geekiest joke? Answer - Instead of rounding up the quantity of apples as 1000 you end up rounding it as 1024! (Not the exact words of the joke) On a serious note, this is actually hilarious as well as worth a thought! As common human beings, are we not a little fetish about the numbers and such numbers have always influenced us to such an extent that we still believe in the Friday, 13th or 17th or any number that may come in mind? Well, this is an absolute blind faith, and I am not going to discuss about it. In general, it is a very debatable topic of which I choose to restrain right now as many people may have very different opinions about it. Coming back to the topic. I love numbers. I love it when they are even numbers or the multiples of 5. 2, 4, 5, 10 sound so complete right? And on the other hand the odd numbers sound so incomplete. I am so attached to these numbers that, back in s...

Blog Update!

Image
It has been about 6 months that I am here and about 5 months that I started this blog! Oh boy, the response has been overwhelming! It wouldn't have been possible without the wishes of my family, friends and readers! Thanks a lot guys! It is your faith in me that keeps me going, forces me to write even if I don't have any reason to! Every now and then I try to experiment with the new features for my blog and I just added the contact form (scroll down, look in the right column)! If you like what I write, message me; and if you hate what I write please, don't forget to mention it, I will be more than eager to correct my writings! If you are neutral about it and think it as quite a passable work, do mention that too! Feel free to express, I would really not mind :) Yaay, I am going to get messages! (My friends know how I love it when I receive some ;) ) Some heads up - In the coming few days I will upload some of my well received articles from the freela...

Game On!

Image
Sports! A big turn on! How, from when, no clue, but yeah, they are always there to boost up my energy levels. To some extent I can say that, I like games. Not love, but actually like. There is a subtle difference between these two words, isn't it? Well, a cricket match has always intrigued me. I still believe that it is just a ball game where actually only few players play while others just stand around. For the records, I love it when India wins any cup or beats Pakistan, I guess, its just the patriotic in me bounces now and then. Nevertheless, I adore some of the cricketers, obviously not only for their play but also for their demeanor. But the game itself need some more chances to convince me, and with the addition of the IPL, it has a very long way to go! I was introduced to badminton at a fairly young age but I still dread that I gave it up for studies! I should have continued it. Playing badminton is anytime the best stress buster for me,  in-spite ...

A Cuppa Coffee!

Image
Sitting alone, sipping a cuppa coffee, reading, writing, doing work, whatever, bliss. Period. Coffee has always been the trigger, it's so easy to get high on a single cup of coffee! The hot brewing cup or just an ice chilled one is enough to do the wonders! For so many days, I had waited to come up with a good write up, but somehow the words always failed me, not today! A lone campus lounge near the dining area, my cafe  choc  chip frappe, the peaceful ambiance, the perfect chair overlooking the green campus through the huge glass wall beside and behind me, a perfect sunny and cloudy climate, a little rush of the staff or the students at the back or the front in the hallway, a distant television in the dining area showing a football match when I entered and now some movie, nearly empty surrounding with a silent cool air, few guys practicing their hip-hop moves and the dim lights adding a little song of their own, a perfect combination and no wonder I am onto my...

New Summer !

Image
It’s been quite a while that I have been writing. Maybe it is the summer effect. No classes, assignments or the near end deadlines to  fulfill  might be the cause to bring all the daily activities to a standstill. The rush phase has been always the best. I like that pace, anxiety, concerns. It keeps me on my toes; the mind is occupied and yes, brings out some of the best outcomes. Having said that, the recreation times are always the best too! After a hectic day, the ‘aaj kuch toofani karte hai’ moto keeps on popping and it will be a no surprise that I will end up with a long walk (with camera) :) or just hit the gym, try to read a novel in a single day or complete one season or just talk/chat (a lot) ultimately extending to an all - nighter :). Sadly, once the race finishes, all the motivation is lost. This might be because of the uncertainties and the unplanned days. This is so unlike! Till now, all summers were properly planned rather belonged to cousins ...
